New Revelations 2 info - No online Co-Op, No ties with first game
4gamer has provided us with new information on Resident Evil: Revelations 2. They interviewed producers Masachika Kawata, Anpo and Okabe, on several aspects of the game.
In terms of story or plot, Revelations 2 will have no connection whatsoever with the first game. Despite said game ending with an epilogue scene that was practically a cliffhanger.
Players will explore several new locations within the fortified island. They also confirmed that there will be a ‘zapping system’ in place that will make it possible to switch between characters in the single player campaign. Co-op will be available, but only offline.
There will be no online Co-Op in Revelations 2. The producers explained the lack of online Co-Op & Moira’s role this way:
Anpo: We adopted online co-op with “5” and “6” but unlike both those games, “REVELATIONS 2” is not a game where two characters fight with guns. Fundamentally, Moira is a character with low combat ability and plays a support role of holding a light to stun enemies, or knocking them with bars to stop their movement.
Okabe: Of course, we could’ve had online for this title. However, we did it offline-limited this time because we thought that particularly the latter character would be disappointed with the other character attacking while they were in a fixed support role.
Moira Burton was described as having a rebellious streak. This will cause her to have some friction with Claire, initially. However, she is expected to grow as a character in this game. As much of the story will actually involve her character.
Revelations 2 will place most of the focus on traditional horror. And shooting will be kept to a minimum. Players will start their adventure without any weapons.
More info is expected to be released at TGS.
